Answer Six Questions, Get Three Matches

Most destination guides assume you already know where you want to go. This one works backwards. Tell us about your trip — vibe, experience, budget, who's coming, how far you'll fly — and we'll rank all the major Mediterranean and Caribbean charter regions against your answers.
Three matches. Short blurbs. Links to the full guides. That's it.
Run it for yourself, then pass it to whoever you're travelling with and see if you agree. Usually someone wants Croatia and someone wants Ibiza and the compromise lands somewhere nobody first suggested.
What the Quiz Is Actually Doing
Each destination in our database has numerical scores (1 to 5) across ten traits:
- Nightlife — how much scene exists at night
- Quiet — how easy it is to find empty anchorages
- Family-friendly — how well it works for kids
- Party — dedicated party-destination factor
- Food — quality and density of good restaurants
- History — archaeological and cultural depth
- Swimming — water clarity and swim-stop quality
- Sailing — wind reliability and sailing interest
- Budget — how cheap things are
- Luxury — how high the top end runs
- First-timer friendly — how forgiving for novice charters
Your answers apply weighting to these traits. Croatia scores 4 on family-friendliness; if you say you're travelling with kids, Croatia gets a big boost. If you also say you want party and luxury, Ibiza climbs past it.
The quiz also applies sanity checks. If you want short-haul European flights, BVI is automatically penalised because it's not short-haul. If you want maximum experience no-ceiling, budget destinations drop lower.
Why We Cover These Twelve Regions
We split the Mediterranean into regional character rather than countries because Greece is two different sailing destinations:
Cyclades are the brochure shot — white villages, Mykonos, Paros, Santorini — but the Meltemi wind howls in July and August at 25 to 35 knots. Experienced sailors only.
Ionian (Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia) is the opposite — light winds, short hops, family-friendly, rarely busy.
Same with Italy:
- Amalfi is crowded, expensive and unmissable
- Sardinia is turquoise Caribbean-quality water with a superyacht scene in Porto Cervo
- Sicily and the Aeolians are volcanic, less crowded, incredible food
Spain splits too. Ibiza and Formentera is party plus hidden coves. Mallorca is grown-up sailing with culture.
And then we cover the whole BVI as a single region because nobody charters Anegada without also doing Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda. It's one sailing ground.
Where Most People Land
From 500+ quizzes taken in private tests with our beta users:
- #1 most common top match: Croatia. It's the all-rounder. Hard to lose with Croatia for a first charter.
- #2: Turkish Turquoise Coast. People who say "good food, cheap, quiet" end up here.
- #3: Ionian Greece. Families with small kids default here.
- Most surprising match: Montenegro. People who say "quiet, historic, not too pricey" discover Montenegro often for the first time.
- Long-haul outlier: BVI. Only matches when people explicitly say they'll fly 8+ hours.
The French Riviera tends to score high for people who answer "maximum experience, no-ceiling budget, food-focused." Which is exactly who it's designed for.
A Note on the "Best" Destination
There isn't one. There are destinations that fit specific trips.
A couple's September trip with a food focus and medium budget wants a completely different place from a family-of-eight summer week with kids who won't sit still. The same person might want different places in different years. We've seen clients do Croatia with their young kids, the Riviera for their 40th, and Turkey for a lower-key second charter — all with the same level of satisfaction, for completely different reasons.
Don't get attached to one "right" answer. The quiz is a prompt for the conversation, not a verdict.
What the Quiz Can't Tell You
Three things only a broker conversation surfaces:
One, boat availability. If you want a specific 2024-model 50ft catamaran for the week of 11 July, half the answers on the quiz become irrelevant because the boat only exists in three places.
Two, local events. The Monaco GP, Cannes Film Festival, Ibiza's opening parties, the Monaco Yacht Show — these distort prices and availability in one-week windows.
Three, your tolerance for transit. Some people are happy to fly six hours to save €3,000. Some will pay €3,000 to avoid the extra transfer. The quiz weights flight length crudely; a real conversation handles it properly.
